Help political prisoner pay legal fees

A dear friend and activist in the Los Angeles community is facing a federal felony indictment for a non-violent charge from their participation in the 2020 George Floyd uprising. They have spent two years tirelessly fighting for racial justice, facing horrific police brutality that has left them with chronic physical/mental health issues. These health issues have impeded their ability to work and engage in capitalism, and they have been struggling with housing insecurity for over a year now. Even while having their own struggles, they continue to dedicate their time and energy to the larger community of Los Angeles. This is someone who does mutual aid for folks who are in the same position as them, helping others over themselves.

As if being brutalized by the state was not enough, they now have to grapple with this federal charge. They are currently out on bond, forced to put up a family member's house as collateral. The prosecutor is demanding they pay $9,000 as restitution, in addition to having to serve a month in prison and over a year parole. They have spent almost all of their income to secure a room as required by their conditions of release; this case has been extremely prohibitive to them achieving stability and housing.

We are hoping to raise at least $9,000 to cover their court fees. Any funds raised over this amount will go to their books while incarcerated and other associating costs. Please consider helping someone who has stopped at nothing to help others whenever they can!
