Help Bring Baby Kobe Home!!!!!

Donation protected

Have you ever met someone and they make you feel like you’ve known them all your life? I had that feeling when I met my best friend. Shae Lewallen is an absolutely amazing person. She makes you laugh when all you want to do is cry. She has been my best friend for over two years now. In that time she has grown into my sister. Her family has grown into my family. I see her husband as a big brother and he definitely acts like it. Her two boys are my nephews who I truly adore. And when she told me she was pregnant with boy number 3 I was over the moon. Another nephew!!! His name is Kobe. He is due at the end of March.

Everything was going good until last week. Shae had a dr appointment where she was told baby Kobe may have an enlarged heart. And then this week Shae and ken were given the reason for the enlarged heart.

Vein of Galen Malformation. A vein of Galen malformation (VOGM) is a type of rare blood vessel abnormality inside the brain. In VOGM, misshapen arteries in the brain connect directly with veins, instead of connecting with capillaries, which help slow blood flow. This causes a rush of high-pressure blood into the veins. And in turn producing more blood into the heart causing it to become enlarged. Unfortunately the mortality rate on such a rare malformation is extremely high.

Shae has appointments set with specialist. One of which is a Duke neurosurgeon that is gaining all the information from upcoming tests to create a team capable of handling the situation.

Kobe has a long fight ahead of him. If at anytime before Shae goes into labor the doctor sees the baby is in distress they will induce Shae and immediately take Kobe for brain surgery. But that is if the doctors agree there is hope for Kobe. As I said before this is rare and the mortality rate is high. Almost 85%. But there is possibility he could make it. And we are hoping and praying for a good outcome.

I am here on behalf of the Lewallen family to ask for donations and prayer. Shae is a stay at home mom to KJ and Maverick. Ken is the sole provider for this growing family. And no matter what, nothing can prepare for a hospital stay and a brain surgery on your new born son. We are currently unaware if their insurance will take care of the costs or how much this will all cost in the end.

Please donate to this wonderful family shaken by an horrible rare malformation. Everyone who personally knows this family knows how much they love to help others as much as possible. Shae and Ken are truly amazing people and parents. They both love with all their hearts. Right now they are hurting and need your help. Even if you don’t know this family please try to help in anyway you can.
