Surviving BII, Bleeding out, Now...Recovery.

Dear humans,

I want to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you who are taking the time to read this message.

My purpose for reaching out on this platform is twofold. Firstly, I am seeking financial assistance to cover the cost of my surgery on January 23rd, as well as the subsequent recovery period. Secondly, I aim to raise awareness about a condition called Breast Implant Illness (BII). It is likely that many of you either know someone who has breast implants, are considering getting them, or have undergone the procedure following breast cancer. Surprisingly, despite being a nurse for 20 years, I am only now embarking on this journey myself, having had my implants since 2006.

Allow me to explain further. My breast implants have had a detrimental impact on my health, leaving me in a state of cognitive impairment, physical disability, and overall decline.

Back in 2006, when I was in excellent health, physically active, and committed to a clean diet, I decided to enhance the appearance of my breasts after breastfeeding both of my daughters. At that time, the prevailing belief was that silicone implants carried potential risks, while saline implants were considered safe and harmless. Consequently, I opted for saline implants, thinking it was a relatively straightforward decision.

Fast forward to 2018, when I began experiencing complications with my left implant due to capsular contracture. Considering that the implants had surpassed the 10-year mark, I made the decision to have them replaced. During my consultation with the surgeon who performed the revision, I was assured that the new silicone implants were much safer and virtually no different from saline implants. With this information in mind, I proceeded with the surgery, assuming it was a routine matter.

ORIGINAL POST
Hello family, friends and community, my name is Erica. I'm reaching out to you on behalf of my big sister, Haley Torres, during an incredibly challenging time in her life. For the past decade, she has been grappling with unexplained illnesses that have taken a toll on her physical and emotional well-being. Over the past few months she has seen a significant decline in her health, leaving her in a state of desperation and need.

It has been incredibly difficult to watch this rapid decline in her health. Haley is a fighter. Someone who never stops and never gives up. She has overcome countless obstacles and has always come out on top. If you know Haley personally, you know she is always there to help others whether it be in her personal or professional life. We went from going to the gym together, to her having to cancel her membership. She couldn't make it through a workout. She went from dancing to house music, to listening from a chair. She would come back from work in tears absolutely exhausted and in pain. It is heartbreaking.

After extensive medical consultations, it has become clear that her breast implants are contributing to her deteriorating health. The recommended course of action is the removal of the implants. a procedure that is both medically necessary and financially burdensome.

Throughout these years of uncertainty, she has faced mounting medical expenses, and the upcoming surgery adds another layer of financial strain. She has found herself unable to work, compounding the challenges she is already facing.

Your support will make a tremendous difference in her ability to access the necessary medical care, cover the expenses of the impending surgery, and navigate the difficult road to recovery. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings hope and relief during this trying time. We are immensely grateful for your consideration, compassion, and support. Even sharing this helps so much and your efforts will help her on the journey towards healing and reclaiming a semblance of normalcy in life. Thank you all for being a source of strength and support during this incredibly difficult chapter in her life!

With all my love and thanks,

Erica Allbritton
