Help us make our first feature Film - Promise Mum
Donation protected
“Promise Mum” is an independent feature film production, and we are calling in favours from friends who have been a part of our journey to date, but we will require some resources to make it happen.
What is the story?
“Promise Mum” is about Thomas a young Aboriginal man who grew up in Sydney’s north shore community. On the eve of his wedding to his long-time sweetheart, he is pressured into fulfilling a childhood promise to his estranged mum, Grace and taking her back home to his country up on the New South Wales mid-north coast. Keen to get this last obstacle behind him and move on with his new life, Thomas thinks it will be a quick round trip but what follows is an emotional journey into the past. This is a heart-warming story of healing the disconnection between a mother and her only son.
About us
Co-writing team Pauline Clague, also Producer and Rima Tamou, also Director, began working together nearly 30 years ago when they met at a course and did their first film, “Round Up” in 1995. Since then, both have worked across film, docos and TV, producing and developing the industry.
During Covid, we made the pact to go after the dream and shoot our first feature; our team is made up of various friends and colleagues from the arms of our stories. DOP, Susan Lumsdon was at ABC when we worked there in the early 2000s. Sound guru Andrew Belletty has worked on all of our dramas to date, and we met a very long time ago when we were first starting as upcoming filmmakers.
Our key actors are family through the journey of our time as filmmakers but also through life.
Wendi Lanham, Jarron Andy & Rima Tamou
We have been self-funding the film to date but need support in the final stages to get us over the line with the principal photography.
Your much-valued support will be used on the production in the following way:
-set design
-costume/makeup
-location
-cast/crew stipends
-catering
-production design
The film is a road movie and a story of re-connection and hope.
Showing the contemporary story of a man learning to be grounded in his knowledge of his country and connection.
