A warm Namaste from the country of Himalayas!
I hope everyone will join us on an extraordinary journey toward a greener and more sustainable Nepal! On World Earth Day, April 22, 2024, our tree plantation fundraising campaign, as part of the "Green Space" project, will bring together communities to create green schools and open spaces conducive to planting trees.
My name is Pasang Tamang from Nepal, an IT professional by profession and doing a lot of community service. After lockdown during the COVID-19 time, I realized Nepal cities need more urban green spaces to enjoy, and there must be more awareness in the community about sustainability. This was my first trigger to start this campaign. It has grown to a much larger endeavor in the last year, with the help of friends, business partners, and the Lions Club.
We have set an ambitious target of planting 10,000 trees by 2030, a goal that will significantly benefit our environment and promote ecological balance. To kick-start this endeavor, we aim to plant a minimum of 1500 trees and distribute 100 fruit plants to households on Earth Day itself, symbolizing our commitment to nurturing our planet.
We have several projects setup:
1. Setting up parks and green zones in Kathmandu
We started on a smaller base in Kathmandu where we started doing small tree plantations to better the living and air environment. We do this with volunteers and the Lions Club. We actively involve schools to educate our younger ones and make them aware. Communities are activated to take care of the trees and parks themselves.
2. Creating a future for remote villages
Like in many other countries, the small villages suffer from youth pulling away to the cities. In Nepal, it's not any different. Young people go to KTM Valley or many of them even abroad to find a better future. But they would much rather stay at home.
We are working on a blueprint to convert small sleeping villages into communities with a future. We do this by turning traditional farming land into modern agriculture fruit, herbs, and vegetable plantations. We also plant trees to create new forests. Besides the working community, this also helps to avoid landslides because the trees hold the ground.
When this blueprint works, we will get backup from local governments to apply our system to other villages.
Help us reach our goals
Your support is invaluable in achieving al; these milestones. By donating to our tree plantation campaign, you're not just contributing financially; you're investing in a sustainable future. Your generosity will directly impact the creation of green spaces and support hands-on learning opportunities for communities to engage in environmentally conscious practices.
Together, let's sow the seeds of change. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a profound difference. Help us plant the seeds of a better tomorrow, where trees flourish, and our planet thrives.
