Brandon Smith's ALS Expenses
Donation protected
Brandon L. Smith was born on July 12th, 1985 as an identical twin with his brother Bryan Smith. His other siblings include Eric Nevith, Robert Nevith Jr, Quincy Nevith and sister Bria Smith. His proud parents are Darleana and Robert Nevith and Biological father Darrell Fraiser.
Brandon was raised in Bayonne and is extremely proud to be part of the Bayonne community family. His passion for sports has followed him over the years. As an adult, he is excited and proud to continue to give back to his community and share his love for the sports back home in Bayonne.
Brandon and I, Christy Altamirano, met when he was a freshmen in high school. I remember the first time I saw him. “I thought he was nice and very attractive, but the thing that made me notice him the most was that he was big into sports just like me.” We continued our friendship during our high school years and had a lot in common. Our shared passions was the love of sports. We both excelled at basketball and helped to bring our home town of Bayonne four championships between the two of us.
Brandon’s love of sports also included football. He played a big part in bringing Bayonne High School a State Championship in 2002. After his high school career there was no question that Brandon would make it to college football. Brandon went on to attend Massachusetts University where he played football all four years. In 2007, Brandon continued his dream and made the tryouts for NFL New York Giants team. Sadly, Brandon didn’t make the cut but that didn’t stop his love for football. He continued to passionately play the sport he loved through club teams.
Brandon has been a Security Guard at Bayonne High School for the past eight years now and has coached BHS Varsity Football as an Assistant for eight years, as well as Basketball for four years. He continues to give back to his community.
Anyone that knows Brandon would agree that he is a passionate, caring, and encouraging man. Brandon has shown so much love to so many and has taught us never to give up, to always keep on pushing.
All in all, Brandon and I have shared a very blessed life with amazing love and support from our families, friends and community leaders. We were engaged on September 5th, 2013 and we plan to be married this year. Our story is one of high school sweethearts living our dream life.
In July of 2015 that dream life was challenged when Brandon was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or as many call ALS. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. These motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. As the motor neurons decrease the ability of the brain to control muscle, movement is lost. Brandon, being a lover of all things sports, has been truly affected by this.
As a family we have a TRUE faith in JESUS CHRIST and we believe with HIM all things are possible. This is our faith and it keeps us going strong. But we are also asking for help while we are now preparing for the challenge of our lives. Brandon is strong and with his faith in GOD we know we will get through this. We have many dear friends and family that support us and give us strength.
We have created this GOFUNDME account to help ease the financial burdens that ALS comes with. We greatly appreciate all donations and ask that you continue to Pray that GOD will bring us through this.
I have 3 simple requests:
