Sponsor Help For Pandemic First Responders

Donation protected
SHORT VERSION:   With the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s first responders - EMTs, police officers, ER doctors, nurses, hospital staff and fire fighters - are under high stress.  We are providing MindShield™ Mobile App to First Responders around the country at NO COST TO THEM to help them manage their stress and mental health. Please donate to fund this project.

PROBLEM - THE WHY:

The COVID-19 pandemic marks an unprecedented time in modern history that will require the best of humanity to overcome. Our nation's First Responders are on the front-lines. It takes a toll on their mental health.

Massively increased workloads, longer shifts, lack of safety supplies, heightened fear and uncertainty all lead to more stress and “BrainBurn” for those who have bravely taken on the task of caring for our health.

In normal times -

•   First Responders are 5 times more likely to commit suicide than the general population

•  Substance abuse rates are more than double those in the general population

•  Research indicates that alcohol abuse and PTSD leads to a tenfold increase in risk or suicide

•   95% of First Responders are suffering from trauma related symptoms

Those were the facts before we were swept up in a global health crisis.

Now, we've all seen on the news -

•  Nurses crying after a shift

•  Exhausted Doctors breaking down in the supply room

•  EMTs weeping openly as they stack bodies and turn to retrieve more dead and dying

•  Police not able to return home between shifts for fear of infecting their families

•  More and more dangerous domestic violence calls for Police to deal with

SOLUTION - THE HOW:

We need to support the mental wellness of our First Responders as a matter of utmost urgency.

Two companies with expertise in this field - ilumivu and True North Behavioral Health have partnered to bring our proven technology platform called MindShield Mobile App to the First Responders through out the country at NO COST TO THEM.

MindShield is a training in emotional resiliency developed at the University of Utah and health stress management and training content by TrueNorth to reduce the impacts of stress and trauma for First Responders.

Our team has taken the proven mobile platform from ilumivu and combined it with the evidence based mental health stress management training content to bring this solution for the First Responders.

MindShield App can be used by the First Responders on their iPhone and Android mobile phones; with or without an optional Garmin smart watch or chest strap.

MindShield Helps First Responders:

•  Master their stress response

•  Identify when stress is building up and know how to turn it off

•  Learn how to communicate effectively for smoother relationships

•  Know how to get back to Big Picture when they are in the weeds

•  Sense the impact of stress on their body and learn how to release it

USE OF PROCEEDS:

We are launching this fundraising effort to raise $250,000 to roll-out our platform FREE to 1000’s of First Responders everywhere.

We are NOT doing this to make any profit whatsoever. ilumivu and True North Behavioral Health are seeking to simply cover our costs to roll-put this mobile App to as many First Responders as we can.

Our compensation is the satisfaction of knowing that we did our part in this crisis, and we feel proud to be a part of the community of citizens that come together to meet a challenge that binds us together in this time of need.

We will start with cities that have been most hard hit by COVID-19 like New York, Seattle, Chicago, etc. then move on to other communities around the country, as funds allow.

COMMITMENT TO REPORT PROGRESS:

We commit to reporting here on our GoFundMe page, and via email and our web sites the information and location of the First Responders as they adopt the MindShield Mobile App to keep our donors informed regularly.

We will post stories, testimonials, videos to inform our community as the platform assists our First Responder communities around the country.
