So many times putting words to something brings clarity to the situation. Putting written words to an event makes it real. Putting a story to pen and paper makes it more “chewable” and allows it to “make more sense” to us.
I wish this was the case for the story of the man who sports this precious smile below
On November 16, Kaleb suffered a tragic neck injury and is currently in critical condition. The injury to his spinal cord is severe and its effects will be with him the rest of his life. While this tragedy has left us with so many emotions, so many questions, and so many uncertainties, there are a couple of things that we know for certain in this situation:
1. We Know Who Kaleb is -
He is a man to whom people gravitate. Kaleb is a solid man, one who friends and family know can be counted on. His humor, gentleness, and loyalty pull you in and put you at ease.
We define ourselves by our relationships, and it is easy to describe some of the sweetest parts of Kaleb’s heart by his relationships with the people he loves and shares life with:
Kaleb is first and foremost the Lord’s man.
He is a father, and a son, and a brother.
He is a mentor.
He is a friend.
His contagious, easy-going presence illuminates a room. He is a stronghold and safe haven for all of us who love him and who rely on him. And now we want to be a shining stronghold for Kaleb in the middle of this chaotic, dark chapter.
2. We Know Who is in Control –
As Kaleb is fighting for his life, as his family and friends are battling heartache and seeking answers – we are still able to confidently say, even amidst the uncertainty and the questions, that God is in control. And we know that He is faithful. “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:19-23
Please join us in supporting Kaleb and his precious family through your donations and your prayers. Through this fund we are choosing to cling to hope and to battle alongside Kaleb. Funds will go directly to his medical costs in efforts to relieve the financial burden from this heart-wrenching event.
