Jennifer's Medical Expenses

My best friend, Jennifer, has recently been diagnosed with Fibromuscular Dysplasia & Neointimal Hyperplasia. It has been brought to our attention many times during this journey that it is not only very complex, but also very rare for someone at her young age to have. It all started back in 2013 at the ripe age of 24 when Jennifer started not feeling well. Her blood pressure started to spike up to an average of 200/150 when ideally a normal BP should be at 120/80. Addtionally, she was very fatigued & constantly nauseated all while still having to work full-time to care for her 2 yr old son. In June of 2013, after visiting with many different Specialist's, an Angiogram showed that her kidney artery was very narrowed. She then had to undergo surgery and have a metal stent placed. In March of 2014, after not feeling well again, another Angiogram confirmed that her kidney artery was re-narrowing. Once again, a surgery had to be performed and a bigger metal stent was placed. In October of 2014, just a few months after her last surgery, her BP started to spike up uncontrollably while on a daily regimen of BP medications. It was a major concern as she is at high risk for a stroke. In November of 2014, she once again had to undergo another surgery & an Angioplasty was performed with a medicated balloon. It seems everything she tried kept "fixing it" , but only temporarily. Now July of 2015 hits, and she is left to feeling out of sorts AGAIN while trying to be a single mother and care for her child. She has had to meet with a team of experts to determine what the next step will be. They reviewed her case multiple times and even considered sending her to North Carolina for surgery because she is such a rare & complicated case. After much deliberation, her Physicians have decided to perform the surgery here in Texas on 9/21/15. She is to undergo a Kidney Bypass surgery which is very similar to a Cardiac Bypass. The Surgeon will have to take an artery from her leg, open her up, take the damaged artery out that keeps trying to close, and replace it with the artery that was removed from her leg. This surgery is expected to take about 5 hours with a team of Cardiovascular Surgeons. She could be admitted to ICU afterwards depending on the outcome. She is expected to have to recover in the hospital for a minimum of 1 week and about 6-8weeks recovery at home. She will be unable to work during this time and will not be receiving any type of compensation as her employer isn't able to provide short term disability. As you all know, surgerys are very expensive, along with the office visits, blood work, imaging, testing, etc that lead to the surgery. Along with the cost of medical expenses and being on unpaid medical leave from work, it will be very hard to provide for herself and her son. Please help me support such a caring, loving, and independant woman. She is the first person I know to help others and never asks for anything in return. She would never ask for any type of assistance, but I'm not opposed to asking for her. She truly is a remarkable person and would really appreciate any support you are willing to give. I'm so proud of her as a mother to have pushed through these difficult times so her son is not affected. Thank you for your time and consideration.
