Help Kara breathe better!

Most know I am an asthmatic. Few know that I am in the "top" 3-5% of asthmatics. I rarely am judged as “average” in anything and I hang out with outstanding people, so why should my asthma be any different? Asthma has been a lifelong challenge for me but in the past two years, breathing has become progressively more difficult which has significantly cut my quality of life in terms of activity and exercise.
At the suggestion of my doctor, I looked in Brochial Thermoplasty. It is a procedure that basically burns off half of the smooth muscle tissue in the lungs and will allow me to breathe easier and improve my quality of life. Last April, I qualified for the procedure, however, my insurance denied the claim. Never one to quit on the first try, I went through three appeals. All were denied. Now, I am left with two options. One, find a way to pay for a procedure or two, resign myself to a decreasing quality of life.
This is where you come in. I firmly believe that if you put good into the world, it is returned to you many fold. My life’s work has been to put good into the world by teaching, by volunteering and serving my fellow humans. I have built lives, not wealth with my time, talent and treasure. That being said, I am asking for your help as I will start the first of thrAny amount that you could contribute towards this procedure would be a tremendous help.
