Our dear friend Liz needs help. Two months ago, Liz was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer with Paget's Disease of the Breast. On Thursday, May 14, Liz will undergo a double-mastectomy to remove the cancer, as well as a lymph-node biopsy to determine if she will need further treatment (chemotherapy, radiation).
Liz has health insurance with a high deductible that has been met, but there remains a 50% co-insurance, which means Liz has to pay 50% of everything, as well as her premiums. The amounts below are what Liz owes after insurance.
Mastectomy - $5,000
Biopsy - $3,000
Mammogram - $1,367.42
Pre-op and Post-op Appointments - $323.82 each
and more bills that have not arrived
Besides these, Liz will have normal life expenses as she recovers. Efforts are being made to apply for financial aid and get more assistance from insurance, but due to Covid-19, our medical system is even more backed up than usual.
With our help, Liz can start to pay this first round of bills. This will allow her to focus on recovery instead of debt in the difficult days to come.
