Support Louis Lovell’s family as they grieve

Donation protected
James Lovell and Amy Harper are deeply saddened and heartbroken to announce that Louis passed away at 10:40pm on Monday night, 8 July 2024.

This fundraiser has now been changed to Support Louis Lovell's family as they grieve.

The family will need support and the best way is by donation. Giving the family the time and space to grieve in whatever way they choose. Thank you as always for your support.

From James and Amy:

"The feeling of losing him is like nothing we’ve ever felt before. Amy and I were both present as he comfortably took his last breath and he made one last well known facial expression as I picked him up for his final moment. He was 2 years, 5 months, 4 days, 4 hours and 3 minutes old.

Louis will now no longer suffer, he is at peace. He has become an angel and will be remembered for so many things including his strength, bravery, courage, adaptation, love of living life to the fullest and ultimately he was an inspiration to everyone who met him, of all ages. He taught us all something in his short lifetime and I’m sure you’ve learned a lot about him over his life through social media.

Thank you for always supporting us over this extremely difficult time this last 19-20 months. We have appreciated every bit of the support we have received and will continue to. It has been amazing and meant so very much.

Thank you everyone!
James and Amy. "

Original post when Fundraiser was established , February 2023:

Baby Louis Lovell needs your help. Devastatingly he’s been diagnosed with infantile-onset Krabbe Disease. It’s an incredibly rare genetic disease that affects the nervous system. Unfortunately, there’s no known cure. The prognosis is dire and his parents James Lovell and Amy Harper are understandably heartbroken. They don’t know how long they will have left with little Louis. Most children diagnosed in infancy do not live past 2 years of age.

James' sister Emma Lovell has set up this fundraiser to give Louis the best life possible and support his parents during an extremely challenging time.

Money raised will help support James and Amy in accessing medical care for Louis to make his remaining time as comfortable as possible, cover income loss if James and Amy are unable to work and give respite to these loving parents who need to be at their full health to care for Louis.

Funds will also be used for this little family to create important memories, treasure time together and share special moments that will live on for a lifetime. Ultimately, the goal is to provide Louis with the best quality of life possible.

We will provide regular updates on this campaign with further information we receive about Louis’ specific variation of Krabbe disease, care and moments the family share.

Please know that James and Amy will wholeheartedly appreciate any contribution no matter how big or small it may be. On behalf of both families, we want to thank everyone willing to participate in this family’s life-changing situation.

Please feel free to share your messages of support below so James and Amy can read them when they’re ready. Your love, thoughts and prayers will also be thankfully received.

Thank you so much for your generosity,
Emma Lovell on behalf of James, Amy & our darling Louis
