Hurricane Ian- Help Marcy With New Housing

Hi, my name is Heather and I started this gofund me for my mom Marcy. My mom lived in a wonderful little community just off Sanibel Island. It’s a retirement community where she has lived for the past few years and she’s made so many friends, so many that are like family. The community was destroyed by Hurricane Ian flooding that reached neck high. It will likely take them years to rebuild.

Sadly she had to leave her home which is gone along with almost all of her belongings. She is safe and she is staying with us until she knows her next move. Not only is she faced with trying to find somewhere to call home in a very tough housing market but so much more as she also lost her network of friends and neighbors, no matter where she moves she has to start over! All of her belongings are destroyed. We spent the day salvaging anything possible which included a small desk, a table, some plants, kitchen items, and clothing. We waded through the place throwing pictures and memories out the window and I know the days she has spent over there are incredibly hard for her. She's been such a trooper through it all! She is strong and is doing everything she can to move forward.

I am hoping this gofund me will help her as she works to start over. Many of you have asked if you can help her and so many of you already have. From checks to plastic bins to store her things in. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!
