Help Me to Dream!
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I need your help! I’m seeking to raise $6,000. Would you consider making a generous gift to help a dream come true for me? I have received a 1-year graduate teaching assistantship for the 18/19 school year in Ohio. I only need $6,000 to cover my airfare and a few other expenses. Your gift of $100 or $200 or more will help me get there.
When I finish my year at the University of Mount Union in Ohio, I plan to return to Nicaragua and “pay it forward.” So your donation is a good investment!
I will keep you updated on my entire journey, which begins in July and ends in June. Please make a contribution to help me. It will be the best birthday present ever!
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO READ FURTHER, you can get the full scoop. Here goes!
The good news I just received that will change the whole future of my life is this: I won a full-year scholarship from the University of Mount Union in Ohio. Room and board are also included! This is a $45,000 benefit that I have received. BUT, to be able to go, I must raise money for my airfare, and a few incidentals that will total $6,000. Will you make a gift today? Por favor.
How did I win this scholarship? Well, let me start by telling you that I have had a dream since being a child of becoming a professional. What a challenge this has been with 7 younger siblings and a single mom! With a lot of work, studying and working hard, I eventually went to college in Nicaragua and became a journalist! I worked for several years and helped a number of my siblings go to college. After working in this capacity, I began to feel that I should seek another way to continue to grow professionally. I have always felt that this next challenge would be to master English.
And to reach this goal, I found a marvelous institution called CEPAD where I met people like you over the last two years that taught me so much and now my English is better and I feel sufficiently capable and happy to be able to help those of you who visit Nicaragua to experience this place and make friendships here.
Two years ago I met Dr. Steve Kramer, a professor at the University of Mount Union who each year brings a group of students who are enrolled in a class called, “Social Responsibility” where they learn about the importance of helping others and understanding that as human beings we share equally in our worth and measure. I saw these values very deeply in Steve and in the students and it motivated me to want to be a part of the educational system of Mount Union. After speaking with Steve, and another professor, Naoko, I was offered a scholarship that would permit me to study there for a year. Winning this scholarship would be very difficult because I would need to demonstrate a commitment and similar values. But thank God! Steve and Naoko recommended me to the president of the university and they granted me the scholarship! This will help me develop as a professional and I hope to use my time in Ohio to return to Nicaragua and to help the needy, just like I had been doing with CEPAD. I plan to travel to the U.S. in July of 2018 and return to Nicaragua in the summer of 2019.
Would you please help make this dream come true today? I must raise the $6,000 for airfare, travel and food while in the U.S. and incidentals to be able to receive the scholarship. If you can make a gift very soon, even before the end of my birthday today, it will help me reach my $6,000 goal. Once I raise this money, I can make a final commitment to this scholarship and tell the University of Mount Union that I will join them as a student next fall.
I promise your gift to me today will be one that will be multiplied many times over. Thank you, thank you!!!
