Help Pink-collar Gallery to grow and support other creatives

Hello there! Michaela here from Pink-collar Gallery!

If you dont know anything about Pink-collar let me tell you -

Pink-Collar Gallery CIC is dedicated to the promotion of underrepresented groups and using art to promote equality. Developed by Sunderland-based curator Michaela Wetherell (that's me!) whose particular passions are highlighting female (under)representation within the arts and the relevance of working-class identity.

Our mission is to support, develop and celebrate women and working-class creatives in the North East of England, providing them with the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.

We started online in the scary times of the Pandemic and since then we have -

  • Worked with over 160 artists.
  • Commissioned 20 new pieces of work
  • Focused on critical issues like mental health, working-class identity, and femicide

In 2023 we came offline for good and jumped into the heart of Sunderland with pop-up events and exhibitions. Our big massive vision is to establish a permanent physical gallery space in Sunderland's city centre but for now, we want to -
  • Create interesting exhibition programming to showcase amazing artists and for the public to enjoy.
  • To develop mentorship programmes, skill development and resources to help creatives on their path to a career in the arts.
  • To develop interesting and entertaining workshops for the public to explore their own creative journeys.

We are moving forward to achieve this but the lack of funding has pushed us back and we want to get our message out there to keep momentum to be around for years to come. We know Pink-collar Gallery is needed in the arts and we want to push through this wobbly beginning to make a difference to the Sunderland art scene and the creative community.

Your donations will directly impact our community by:

  • Funding creative workshops
  • Paying artists for their work
  • Supporting the career development of emerging artists

How You Can Help
Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Additionally, we will be selling artwork as part of this fundraiser, so you can support us and own a piece of unique art.

Join us in making a lasting impact on the arts in Sunderland and the wider North East. Let's show that art is for everyone, and together, we can help working-class artists shine. Thank you for your support!
