Help for Grandparents; Remembering Bertha Salcido

Hi, my name is Mari, and I am fundraising for my grandma's funeral expenses and my grandfather's living expenses.

On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, my grandma, Bertha Salcido, passed away from a stroke after several days in the hospital. She was airlifted from a hospital in her hometown of Merced, CA, to another hospital in Modesto, CA. My grandma leaves behind my grandfather who is devasted after losing his wife and lifetime companion. My grandma was also a great-great-grandmother, leaving behind four generations who loved her dearly. As expected, this is a difficult time for my family. However, there are a few things that make this ordeal more difficult to cope with; the doctors believed they may have been able to save her had she arrived sooner. Not everyone in the family was able to make it to her in time before she passed. My grandma had already lost all three of her daughters, my mom included; none of which were able to be here with us during this time as a result. My grandma's passing is now the third death in our family in just under one year. In March of 2022, my grandparents lost their eldest daughter (their second loss), and then in June of 2022, they lost their youngest and last remaining daughter. My grandparents have been through so much in the last year as you can imagine. My grandma recently spoke of wanting her daughters with her. Now, she's gone also. We're concerned for my grandpa; losing two daughters and his wife within a year is beyond devastating. He is not doing well and it is heartbreaking for all of us.

We are raising funds to pay for any uncovered funeral costs, medical expenses, and my grandfather's living expenses. My grandparents were a low-income family living off of a small fixed income.

El miércoles 22 de marzo de 2023, mi abuela, Bertha Salcido, falleció de un derrame cerebral después de varios días en el hospital. La trasladaron en helicóptero desde un hospital en su ciudad natal de Merced, CA, a otro hospital en Modesto, CA. Mi abuela deja atrás a mi abuelo, quien está devastado después de perder a su esposa y compañera de toda la vida. Mi abuela también fue tatarabuela, dejando atrás cuatro generaciones que la querían mucho. Como es de esperar, este es un momento difícil para mi familia.
