Helping Foxfield School

On the 26th June I will embark on a 170 mile, 3 day 'coast to coast' charity bike ride with 6 of my oldest friends. The route we have chosen is the 'Way of the Roses' from Morecambe on the West Coast of England to Bridlington on the East Coast. This will include over 5000ft of hill climbs over the Pennines taking us from the Red Rose of Lancashire to the White Rose of Yorkshire.

The cause we are fund raising for is Foxfield School which is a special school that caters for pupils aged 11-19 with complex learning difficulties from across the Wirral. The school meets the needs of pupils with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many of the pupils have additional and associated difficulties such as sensory impairments, physical difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, communication difficulties or complex and challenging behaviours.

As well as myself the ride will be completed by David Gartside, Paul Hamer, Paul Armstrong, Andy Doughty, Chris Brown and Lee Dean. We are all amateur cyclists with David, Paul Armstrong and Andy having bought bikes just to complete this challenge. We do expect it to be a tough but ultimately rewarding experience that will contribute to a fantastic cause.
