After spending the evening cheering for the EAGLES at the Lincoln Financial Stadium, Lou was attempting to enter his house when he was approached by 2 men. One of the men said " You already know what this is" and as Lou stepped away from his door and turned away from the men, one of the men shot Lou in his lower back and then they ran off.
Lou found the strength to make what he thought was his final request for help and called 911
" Please help me I have been shot, My name is Luis ******* and I'm at ***** N. 13th street, Please help me, I DONT WANT TO DIE".
Lou then lost consciousness, the Philadelphia Police were the first to respond and rushed him to the nearest hospital in their squad car, where he was rushed into emergency life-saving surgery.
Lou Injuries
The bullet entered his back 1/2 inch away from his spine damaging his pancreas, striking his kidney hitting his intestines in two different places, and threw his right lung. This has led to Lou being incubated with several tubes coming out his chest and abdominal area, some tubes which will remain from 6 months to a year.
It has been 2 weeks since the violent incident and Lou has acquired in this time pneumonia, blood clots in his wounded lung, an infection in his blood, on top of those conditions Lou has had 2 different infections in his stomach but his will to live, eagerness to fight for survival and with the help of Temples doctors he is fighting and overcoming these infections slowly.
Lou Needs your Help!
Eventually, Lou will be sent home with many tubes still attached to him and he will not be able to work or take care of his basic needs like paying rent, bills, other everyday life needs and support for the medical necessary equipment he needs that continue to provide him with nutrients since he is currently unable to eat by mouth. He finds the strength to smile every day, so let us come together to make his healing process a little easier with no stress of having housing and essential insecurities.
Lou’s One Msg
“I’m Bless to be alive....”
“I sit in this hospital bed and I’m able to think and think. And I have one msg to the men who shot me. I’m not angry, mad or even looking for revenge on you. I’m just sad, I’m very sad that you even shot me and left me out to die, I am sad you even picked me out of all people. If you would of just approached me and talk to me, I could of helped you. You shot a real one.”
