Hivsters 'cause we can Camino #teamCraig
Stigma and discrimination are foremost amongst the barriers to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. Despite decades of advances in the treatment and prevention of HIV, an environment of ignorance and fear persists.
The mission of the Hivsters cause we can CamiNO is to combat HIV related stigma and discrimination through education and awareness. To dispel myths that PLHIV are somehow less capable of leading living full, rich lives.
Undertaking and completing significant physical and logistical adventures as a team, we are out to set the record straight and create awareness everywhere we go.
The Camino's we undertake are our shared paths to achieving that goal.
All participants undertaking the camino are committed to raising as our share towards the overall cost. This campaign is to support the efforts of #teamcraig.

This mini campaign is an off shoot of the main campaign. Each of the "walkers" have pledged to raise a portion of the main goal. The funds will be used for accommodation along the way, meals and getting us there and back. We are trying to do this as cheaply as we can. Our intention is to donate funds above what we need to hiv support / advocacy organizations and charities.

Who are: #teamcraig
Craig (C1) HIV has been an element of my life in one shape for form for very a long time. I have seen first hand the worst HIV can do unchecked. I have seen incredible acts of human kindness, generosity, creativity, selflessness, strength and love that it can inspire.
HIV doesn’t scare me. The stigma and outright discrimination from people, institutions and governments terrifies me though.
When I lost the first of my friend in 1992 I promised myself that I would engage and do all I personally could. This camino is an incredible opportunity to dispel the myths, lies and discrimination that surrounds HIV
It demonstrates that PLHIV are as able as anybody else and that in 2016 HIV should not be feared. This is why I’m walking
Craig (C2) One of my core values is compassion. It breaks my heart when I see some treated unfairly or shamed.
I’m walking to show there is nothing inherently bad about living with HIV and there is no reason to think less of those living with it. HIV doesn’t discriminate.
People living with HIV have an added complication to their life, but they can own it. Anyone living with HIV is able to excel at anything they push themselves to do.
I hope my friends and I can prove that on this walk.
