You're Part of Our Story of Safety - Thank You.

Donation protected
The court granted my daughter and me temporary protection, but that order could expire after the upcoming hearing. If it does, the man whose actions have caused us fear and uncertainty may return to our home. So for now I set the goal for immediate need in case that happens versus the longer timeframe goals.

(Thank you for being part of this story.)

Hey there,

It's me, and I want to share a story with you — it’s about my daughter, our not-so-little dog, and a place we call home. It’s not just any story; it’s ours, and right now, it’s at a really crucial chapter.

I can still see my young daughter joyously running through this house for the first time 4 years ago.

I can still hear my daughter curled up under a table crying.

It feels a bit like time is running out, but with helpers, we can ensure that safety isn't just temporary, but lasting.

The Reality We're Facing Now

*I've talked to Safe Haven, 1Roof, 211, etc, and there are no emergency housing funds until after the new year.

I have sole custody of my daughter.
He is not her father.

We may need to secure a rental apartment if the court doesn’t extend the protective order.

  • Rent in Duluth averages $1,300–$1,600/month.
  • Landlords often require first and last month’s rent plus a double deposit due to my fair credit.

Though I’ve now been approved to increase my work hours and met with a credit coach, I didn't/don’t have the financial buffer for such an accelerated move out.

We need immediate support to ensure we have a place to call home.

What Your Donation Will Do

Your contribution will help create a long-term solution for our safety and stability. Here’s how it will help:

$25: Toward renting a U-Haul pickup truck if we need to leave in a hurry.

$50: Toward rental application fees to secure safe housing.

$100: Toward a storage unit in case housing options take time to secure.

$250: Toward boarding our large dog if we need to stay with friends temporarily.

$500: Toward the deposit and first month’s rent for a safe and stable home.

$1,000+: Toward the Christmas miracle of buying out our home, ensuring long-term safety.

Every dollar brings us closer to freedom, safety, and stability.

The Big Picture

His lawyer offered another option.

I could secure my [ex]boyfriend’s share of our home to keep it just us.

It’s not just about the house itself; it’s about keeping a roof over my daughter’s head, a place where she can dream, grow, and just be a kid.

Ultimately we’re looking to raise $137k. It sounds like a lot, I know. But every bit of it is a step towards keeping our lives stable, towards not having to tell my daughter that we need to leave the only real house she's known.

*If this first $5k does not need to go to emergency housing, it will clear the small bit of old debt I have to get approved for a new mortgage to buy out his portion of the house or other stable housing when that gets resolved.
