Honokaa Piano Project for Youth
Donation protected
We are raising funds to restore a 1925 Chickering Baby Grand Piano at the Historic Salvation Army building in Honoka'a Hawaii. The piano will be used for low cost music lessons for children in the community as well as praise and worship music in our Hall, and also public perfomances with local professional musicians and students of the surrounding communities.
The total we need to raise is $5600 for a complete restoration including new strings, hammers, tuning, balancing, heating bars to prevent rusting/warping and a protective floor length blanket to protect this antique piano. We have secured $3600 from private donors and now only need $2000 remaining for a full restoration. We are almost to our goal, any remaining donations of any size are greatly appreciated. We are only weeks away from the piano to make it's first new sounds as we now have the parts almost completely restored. We just need the final funds for labor costs for Alex now, for his time and generous efforts for this project. Please consider donating!!!
Alex Czerny of Kohala will be completing this resoration project. Any donors will also be given tickets to a concert given by Alex and other professional musicians in the community once the piano is restored.
Once resored, this would be the only public use baby grand piano available for musicians and students of music in our area. Any funds over goal will go into a scholarship fund where students of low income families will qualify for free lessons. We appreciate any size contributions, and any amounts donated are tax deductable through the Salvation Army. Ask us for a form if you would like to make your donation deductable. Thank you and God bless your generosity for our community in Honoka'a.
