Honoring Nicholas Todd Blazis
My name is Rachael Crossley and am a close friend of the Blazis- Stopyra-Mitrokostas family. It’s with a heavy heart that I share our cherished friend, son, and brother, Nicholas Todd Blazis, passed away at the young age of 34.
I first met Nick when I was 12 years old after becoming instantaneous friends with his younger sister, Sophia, in middle school. From the beginning of Sophia and I’s friendship, I was always welcomed into their family with open arms and open hearts. Before I was ever introduced to Nick, I was introduced to his garage loft bedroom. Sophie and I thought it was the coolest thing to hang in her big brother’s room, playing around with his Indo board, chillin on the various, velvety couches, listening to his CD collection. Total hippy vibes. With an over-flowing amount of love for his sisters, Sierra and Sophie, his mother, Melissa, and his dear friends, he was the guy who always left his doors wide open.
The bond Nick had with his sisters was unbreakable. Every time I would run into Nick at a coffee shop in town, he’d speak so proudly of his sisters, sharing all their rad accomplishments and adventures with me. Only two years apart from Sierra, the two shared much of their lives together, the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the ugly. They were always in the same circle, sharing such blissful moments of pure joy and happiness together and with their friends. I’m sure that when they both look back on their lives, the most cherished memories are with each other. Both beautifully creative people, Nick and Sierra stayed inspired by one another to create art, to continue exploring, and certainly shared a mutual love for music, painting, pottery, and the wildness of life. Nick was Sierra and Sophie’s biggest cheerleader, no matter what.
Over the years, Sophia has remained by best friend and my rock. Together we’ve experienced many milestones, celebrating each other wherever our journey’s lead us and supporting each other through and through. Simply put, I literally don’t know what I’d do without her. Among all the great times, there is also unfortunate losses.
Nick’s true love was the ocean whether he was fishing, sailing, or just basking in the essence of being on the water. The sea is where he wanted to be. His other true love was music and if you really knew Nick, you know he’s always down for a get down. He was usually jammin’ on his guitar, homies on the mic, or he’d be groovin’ at a live show. He would travel far and wide with no hesitation for his favorite bands. Filled with wanderlust, he always traveling to new places, returning to the familiar, road-trippin’ and spending a lot of time amongst nature. He was a free spirit and surely has left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His soul will continue to rock n’ roll on.
Nick was a dear and dedicated friend to so many, always encouraging the people in his life to be more creative, to follow their dreams, and would always undoubtedly offer his support. He shared his interests, passions and hobbies with the ones he loved. Nick’s spirit soared in connection with others, and his soul was happiest in community and in gathering people together. He touched so many lives with his ability to relate, to speak his mind, and empathize deeply with life.
Nick was active in the Cape Cod community as a tradesman and a true supporter of the local music scene. He was excited about his work as a shell fisherman, a boater, a carpenter and a painter and always was seeking new ways to be creative and involved.
Nick’s family remembers him as a generous, gentle and compassionate person, an artist and musical soul whose passion lay in self- expression, seeking more authenticity while always adding in lots of playfulness. They will remember Nick as an adventurer and a lover, having the ability to light up a room with high vibes, laughter, and curiosity. Nicholas truly created a work of art out of his life, and creating art can get messy. But those are the best masterpieces.
Nick’s family now faces the heartbreaking task of saying goodbye, and they need our help. While Nicholas devoted much of his life to his community and his loved ones, it is my hope that we can now return the favor and support his family during this tumultuous time. In reciprocity of Nick’s true giving nature, let’s come together to support his family during this difficult time and to give him the celebration he deserves.
It is with great compassion and gratitude that I launch this campaign to help the family with the expenses that come with this tragic circumstance. In lieu of flowers and food, please help ease the financial burden on this family. Any and all help is gratefully appreciated beyond words.
