Honouring Josh’s Last Wishes -Keeping Family Close
Donation protected
My name is Kate Guitar and as most of our family and friends know, my brother-in -law Josh has been fighting cancer. September 2nd, my husband Jeremy received a terrifying phone call from Josh telling him that he has stage 4 cancer and there’s nothing that can be done to save his life.
To say that we are devastated is a total understatement, we absolutely cannot believe this is happening.
Jeremy, their mother Roxanne and I had travelled to Ontario to be with him while tests were being done, in hopes that some miracle would come along and those words “there’s nothing they can do for me” would be something we could all forget. After a month of tests, being in and out of the hospital, tests have confirmed Josh has Bile Duct cancer that has spread to other organs in his body and is aggressive. To think that just a few short weeks ago he was announcing Jeremy and I Mr. & Mrs Guitar at our wedding, and is now fighting for his life is just heartbreaking. Josh has since been moved to a beautiful Hospice facility where he will be until his final breath. Jeremy and Roxanne have been there with Josh, spending nights between a hotel, the hospital and now Hospice. Everyone is, as you can only imagine, exhausted, heartbroken and just trying to keep afloat.
The Guitars are not people that tend to lean on others for help and support, they try not to burden others when life throws you the hardest thing (if you guys know Jeremy and Roxanne…you know exactly what I mean) This is a time when this family needs love and support, there are expenses that never in a million years we thought we would need to cover. That Roxanne would have to say a final goodbye to her son, or that Jeremy would have to lose his life long best friend and brother. Jeremy and Roxanne are staying in a hotel close to Hospice so that they can be with Josh as much as possible and also have somewhere to sleep and shower. We have literally exhausted all of our financial resources and need help so that Jeremy and Roxanne can be with Josh.
Our goal as a family is to bring Josh home to New Brunswick, celebrate his life and and lay him to rest as he wishes.
Please, if you are able, make a donation to help us honour Josh, and bring his family together, it would be appreciated beyond words at this most difficult time.
With all my heart, thank you!
