Billy’s Medical Expenses for Lung Cancer Treatment

It is with a heart of hope that our family seeks your financial support to cover medical expenses of US$50,500 for our dear William Rennalls, affectionately called Billy, who was recently diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

As a family we decided collectively to put together this account on behalf of our Billy, husband of 16 years to Renee and father to 13 year-old Gabrielle.

Billy’s Diagnosis

In 2021, to the shock of all who know him as an advocate for eating healthily and boasting a consistent blood pressure of an athlete, Billy suffered a stroke. Despite experiencing all the symptoms and challenges associated with a stroke, Billy rebounded quickly to a picture of good health and wellness.

In 2022, doctors discovered however that he had a completely blocked carotid artery. They revealed that it was inoperable but somehow, his body had found a work around and his brain had vascularized. The family breathed a sigh of relief.

Shortly thereafter however, after having COVID, Billy began to experience chest pains, and began undergoing a series of tests over the next couple of months. Initially it was thought to be pneumonia, but he started to experience episodes somewhat like recurring seizures, and the doctors could not detect the root cause. The two issues appeared unrelated however due to the diligence of his team of amazing Jamaican doctors, a CT scan of his lungs was ordered in April of this year, and they discovered a mass and his left lower lobe had collapsed.

Upon performing a biopsy it was confirmed to be cancer. Further testing indicated that it had metastasized.

Challenges for the Family

Billy’s diagnosis has naturally been difficult for his family. Billy is Renee’s bedrock, even more so over the last decade as she has lived with rheumatoid arthritis. This autoimmune disease has reduced her mobility due to swollen and stiff joints and excruciating pain. During periods of flare ups when Renee is unable to get out of bed, Billy has been her caregiver in these difficult moments.

The medical issues faced over the past decade, and now with Billy's diagnoses, have taken a toll on the family’s finances. Most recently, Renee had to give up her job that was four hours away out of town, in order to support Billy during this time.

Yet we remain hopeful that Billy will overcome and be victorious with the help from God, your prayers, well wishes and financial support.

Treatment & Costs

Billy's surgical wound from his biopsy is healing very slowly. As a result, he is not able to start chemotherapy.

So after thorough research and recommendations from our dear personal friends who successfully beat cancer after their own treatments, we are embarking in faith to begin alternative treatments. After intense discussions with medical practitioners in Mexico, they have put together a comprehensive treatment plan customized for Billy. He will need to travel from Jamaica to Mexico immediately in order to get this necessary medical attention.

Billy has been blessed thus far with minimal costs for treatments and tests performed by local Jamaican doctors and medical practitioners; all of whom we would sincerely like to thank from the bottom of our hearts.

So, with the impending medical expenses, the costs are insurmountable at this time for the family. And it is through our hope and love as a family that we use this medium to seek help in raising funds to cover Billy’s medical treatment, travel and recovery expenses.
