Update 04-02-2018: Thanks to all for your fantastic participation in helping Jackie with her fight against cancer! Jackie had her surgery to remove her cancerous tumor on 03-26-2018. She is home now and recuperating, which is a process that will take from two to four months. Currently, Jackie is receiving about 60 percent of her salary through Long Term Disability Insurance, and is maintaining her healthcare benefits by paying out of pocket for COBRA. The money that you have generously donated is helping Jackie make up the difference in her salary and paying for COBRA. Please keep Jackie in your thoughts because our goal is to get her back to work at the Renton Police Department and back to her normal life. I cannot tell you how grateful Jackie is for all the help from her immediate family, along with all the help from her extended family of friends, co-workers, and the community. Thank you again!

Original Post 02-22-2018:
On 05-23-2017, Jackie was diagnosed with Stage Four Cancer consisting of a malignant tumor inside her body. The cancer from the tumor metastasized and spread into her liver.
Jackie underwent her first surgery on 09-27-2017 to remove the cancerous part of her liver. She had to use all her sick leave and most of her financial resources to get her body to this point of recovery. But her fight is not over.
In the very near future, once the cancerous tumor has shrunk enough through chemotherapy to become operable, Jackie will need a second surgery to remove the tumor from her body.
Once the tumor is removed Jackie will be out of work for approximately eight to 12 weeks. There will be out-of-pocket expenses coupled with a potential loss of income that hinders Jackie’s ability to meet her family’s day-to-day bills and expenses.
Jackie is the sole income provider for herself and her husband Fred. She has a loving family including five grandchildren. Jackie is a mentor and friend to all who meet her in her personal life and through the Renton Police Department. Even as she has been in a constant state of pain since her diagnosis, Jackie has continued to maintain a cheerful and hopeful demeanor. She brightens any room she is in with her optimism and personal strength. On the days Jackie is not receiving treatment she continues working at the Renton Police Department.
In this difficult phase of Jackie’s life, we are reaching out for any help we can give her. We appreciate any amount you are able to donate to help Jackie with this battle against cancer and her recovery.
Please keep Jackie in your prayers, and help us spread the word and the GoFundMe link through your social media and email. Our goal is to help Jackie return to a long life of health for herself, her family, and her career.
