Life is fragile people! So very fragile. Each day, we allow ourselves to get caught up in the hustle and the bustle of life. We get up in a fog, grumble our way to the coffee maker, head down, yawning. Plop down in front of Good Morning America and let the world’s troubles fill our minds. We take a shower, dress, on a good day; we kiss our spouse and head out the door to attack our professional responsibilities.

We spend the majority of our waking hours with the people we rub elbows with at the office. We converse and share with them probably more than anyone else in our lives. We finish our work day. We drive home. We walk in the door, tired from the day.

Are there days you are still grumpy or too tired to embrace your beautiful husband? Are there days we forget to tell him how special he is to us? Are there days we get mad about the stupid toilet seat being left up? Are there times we let a stupid argument drag on for days?

I will miss holding his hand! The caress of his breath on my cheek as he kisses me. The sound of his voice saying my name! I will never hear him say “I love you honey!” I will miss his smell as my tears wash it away from his pillow. I will miss hearing him pull up in the driveway and watching him saunter through the door and lean down to kiss me asking how my day was. I will miss seeing him on the John Deere with a beer in the cup holder and his ear buds playing an Adam Corolla podcast. Oh God how I will miss him! I do not know how to do this!

Please go home tonight and kiss those you hold dearest. Tell them how special they are to you. Never let stupid crap get in the way of loving each other. Hold his hand while walking to the entrance of Walmart! Cuddle on the sofa even if you no longer fit as well as you did in your twenties. Please do not let yourself have regrets of what didn’t get said or done.

I am going to be taking some time that I am eternally grateful for to be with my beautiful husband during our last few moments. I am going to focus on loving him and caring for him and I will cherish each and every breath, sound, kiss, touch, smell, every last second that I get to keep him.

Thank you to those that already know and have shared kind words or a hug.
