Hello! My name is Alec Garcia. I am a Registered Nurse in Wisconsin and a member of the Madison Church of Christ. This morning, November 18th, I was thrilled to receive news that I have been accepted as a volunteer for the HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigade in Honduras in January 2025! This has been a long-time dream of mine—to use my nursing skills to serve those in need alongside an incredible team of volunteers.

What is the Community Service Brigade?

The HOPEww Brigades provide essential medical care, health education, and vital resources to underserved communities. As a volunteer, I will have the opportunity to deliver direct care, assist with distributing medications, and participate in programs that leave a lasting impact, such as children’s initiatives and local health support. Each volunteer’s contribution goes toward not only immediate care but also the sustainability of these efforts in the host country.

How Your Support Helps

The estimated total cost for my participation is $1,720, which includes:

Flights: $600

Transportation: $20

Travel Health Insurance: $50

Accommodations: $540 (including room-sharing and taxes)

Meals: $60 for dinners (other meals are included by HOPEww)

Registration Fee: $450 (covers medical supplies, transportation, and other direct program expenses)

I am responsible for covering these costs, and the deadline to purchase flights and secure participation is December 2nd, 2024. That leaves little time to raise the necessary funds! Your financial support will go directly toward these expenses, allowing me to focus on preparing for the work ahead.
