August 21, 2024 Goal $36,000 Raised $13,000
July 18, 2024 The goal has been increased to $36,000.
Please join us in raising funds for serious medical and vision emergencies, injured feet, several months of rental/hotels and meals due to homelessness.
Urgent need for hotel or summer rental.
Community help is needed to assist Amy, a well known writer/poet, music teacher and painter who has taught over a thousand students in the public schools. She has also recorded, performed, and read poetry/spoken word in many school and community settings, and at UCSB.
There is a growing need for fire emergency evacuation funds, as we enter the high risk fire season. Even potential fires in surrounding counties create dangerous bad air quality, which should one should not sleep in outdoors. Help might be for a flight out, or hotels elsewhere.
There is a longstanding rental crisis here, and many housing and social services have not been able to help. The City of Santa Barbara sued UCSB for not building the mega dorm for 5,000 students, which inflated the rental crisis.
A fundraising leader and team fundraisers are needed. Serious new vision problems make using a computer difficult. A writer's office space , or co-share space is also needed, in order to compile, edit and print years of work, in preparation for a project release.
All donations have a delay of up to several days for processing.

Drummer, violinist, singer-songwriter, music teacher, poet EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER. 2022 Hotel funds are needed due to rental crisis, homelessness, health challenges, and serious injury. Feet were injured when a bus ramp squashed them. Cannot drive, bike, swim, run, skate, dance or play drumset. Hotels, restaurants, warm clothing, sleeping bag, down jacket, taxis, shoes, meals are needed. Seeking rental leads and a lawyer. All the usual support services have failed, serving largely mentally ill and drug addicts. Still homeless in the park.
Brrrr. Temperatures in the 30's. The first goal of $1600 was met, and spent, and is now increased to $3500 due to the high cost of hotels and restaurant meals indoors.
( summer)
We are in an Excessive Heat Warning of 100* in the Santa Barbara coastal areas. I am a well known poet, musician, and music teacher who is homeless in the park, and cannot be in the shelters due to health issues. I also had my feet injured when a city bus ramp squashed them, so it is hard to get around. I cannot be at the beach due to problems walking in the sand, and pain from the cold water.
The Santa Barbara library is also closed for construction. There are no cooling centers in Santa Barbara. They expect this heat wave to continue for five days.
It is the Labor Day holiday, and the price of hotels is very high. I need to be indoors both day and night. I get migraines from the heat, and from the sun. Migraines can be severely debilitating.
My continuing attempts to secure help continue to fail. Recently, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, Santa Barbara Catholic Charities, a Fund for Women, and the Actors' Fund have denied me all help.
There is a housing crisis here, and the City of Santa Barbara has sued UCSB over housing issues caused by their 5000 student mega-dorm which was not built, resulting in many students requiring housing in the community. This has caused a rental shortage, and difficulties in finding housing.
Emergency hotel, meals, and taxi assistance are needed. Thank you.
