I Am My Mother's Daughter Inc. (IAMMD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate support, resources, and education to individuals who are grieving the loss of a mother. Our mission is to create a nurturing community where those affected by maternal loss can find solace, understanding, and empowerment to heal and honor their mothers' legacies. IAMMD was founded with the core belief that no one should have to navigate the profound grief of losing a mother alone. Recognizing the unique and often complex nature of this type of grief, IAMMD is committed to providing tailored support that addresses both emotional and practical needs.
Our organization fosters a sense of community through various events and activities, such as memorial walks, workshops, remembrance ceremonies, social gatherings, retreats and volunteering at Palliative and Hospice Care facilities. Through these engagements, members not only encourage themselves but they build connections, provide support and create a healthy space where compassion and empathy are demonstrated.
We are raising funds to cover the cost for expenses including, but not limited to:
- Program development and expansion
- Travel expenses and accommodations (i.e. Group Retreats, social gatherings, etc.)
- Operational costs, administrative expenses, and supplies
- Licensed facilitators
- Compensation for support staff
- A meeting venue
- Community events and workshops
- Marketing and outreach
- Technology and digital infrastructure (website creation and hosting, graphic designs, logo creation, social media coordination, etc.
- Scholarship funds
With the exception of a small fee paid by members, to cover expenses such as a light breakfast or snacks for those attending meetings, all of our events have been fully SELF funded by IAMMD’s remarkable founder, Jennifer Jeter. She's truly a hardworking, thoughtful, and caring visionary, leader, mentor, and friend.
