ILIA Weed Harvester Fundraiser

At the August 20, 2022 ILIA General Membership Meeting, the Harvester Committee provided a report on the estimated costs to repair the existing deteriorated harvester. In lieu of these costly repairs, the membership approved a motion for the board to investigate the purchase of a replacement machine. Over the last 9 months the ILIA Harvester Committee researched several manufacturers and models. The committee concluded its work and the board approved presenting the purchase of Inland Lake Harvester’s model ILH250 Aquatic Plant Harvester and ILH Tri-Axle Trailer/Conveyor to the ILIA membership at the June 10th, 2023 General Meeting.

At the General Meeting, the membership resoundingly approved the purchase of the new harvesting system for $156,700.00. The harvester features an environmentally-friendly vegetable-oil hydraulic system and a 6’ cutting depth. The multi-purpose trailer includes a conveyor and will also be used to transport/launch the harvester as well as to haul weeds from the boat ramp to the disposal site. This system will eliminate the need for the ILIA’s dump truck and conveyor (both also vintage). The existing harvester, conveyor and dump truck will be marketed and sold.

Raffles and other fundraisers are planned, however, the funds will primarily be obtained through donations. Please consider this a generational investment in Indian Lake and your lake homes as we expect the life of this equipment to exceed 30 years.
