F*CK CANCER! That's right, F*CK cancer. WHY, WHY, why take such a good man?! We are left with feeling angry, devastated and heart-broken! We are left with so many questions that will never be answered.
Felix the fighter, what a battle he fought for so many years. Knocking out testicular cancer and then battling an ongoing war with ocular melanoma.
What a true warrior, his entire stomach scarred with battle wounds, the loss of a testicle, the loss of an eye... you think he complained or felt pity for himself, NEVER! Surrounded by friends and family at weekly dinners, he would laugh and made jokes about his missing body parts. We will always remember that contagious smile and the sound of his laughter.
On April 19th, 2021, cancer took away our beloved Felix Velter. But cancer will NEVER take away all of our beautiful memories with him. Memories that will always be celebrated, cherished and shared over and over with his children. Memories that we will forever raise a glass to at the dinner table.
Felix leaves behind so many, most importantly he leaves behind his greatest accomplishment..........THE V5. No matter what, it will always and forever be the V5! Felix Velter, Karina Velter, Paul Velter, Aiden Velter and Emma Velter.
Felix hustled for his family until his last days, he worked through daily doctor appointments, blood work, surgery, treatment trial after treatment trial. There are no words to describe his strength and determination to continue living for his family.
"Behind every strong man, there is a strong woman." This cannot be more true when it comes to Felix's wife Karina. How strong and brave you are! With this HELL of a year, she is somehow keeping it all together. Karina juggled a full-time job, 3 kids virtually learning, being a wife, chef, and a full-time nurse to Felix.
As if things weren't already absolutely horrible, recently Karina lost her full-time job due to covid. No longer employed, she lost her health insurance for her entire family when she needed it the most.
Karina's road ahead is most certainly a difficult one as she transitions to a single mother of 3. She will somehow have to maintain a household with no current income, piles of medical bills and funeral expenses. I know how powerful and beautiful our community can be when we all get together. Felix was always so kind and generous, constantly donating to others and the synagog. Let's help the V5 during this devastating time with the same kindness he showed to so many.
