ISU Helps Earthquake Victims In Turkiye
Tax deductible
On February 6, 2023, Turkiye was hit by two devastating earthquakes of magnitudes 7.8 and 7.5, bringing immense destruction and loss of life to the region. The earthquakes were centered in Hatay, Maraş, Antep, Diyarbakır, Malatya, Osmaniye, Adana, Adıyaman and Urfa, which are home to around 15 million people.
The impact of the earthquakes has been devastating, with fatalities surpassing 7,900 and expected to be even more, as reported by the Earthquake and Risk Reduction Division (AFAD) in Turkiye. In addition to the loss of life, numerous individuals have been injured and thousands have been left homeless or unable to enter their homes. The ongoing snowfall only adds to the dire humanitarian situation.
Turkiye has declared a Level-4 emergency alert, calling for international aid and support to address the disaster. Numerous local aid organizations have rallied to offer assistance, but there is still an immediate need for resources such as food, winter clothing, and shelter.
We, Turkish students and scholars at Iowa State University, are urging the global community to support recovery efforts through donations that will be directly transferred to Bridge to Turkiye organization which wires all funds to AHBAP Association, a well-known, well-run, reputable, and trusted organization in Turkiye. Updates on the campaign will be frequently shared on the donation page.
- Bridge to Turkiye is advised by Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2015.
- Your donations are %100 tax deductible.
- All donations will be forwarded to the local organization (AHBAP) without any overhead. %100 of your donations will be used in the emergency.
Your support is critical and can make a difference for those affected by the earthquakes. Every contribution counts and will go towards recovery efforts. Please spread the word and show your support.
Please note all additional tipping during the donation is voluntary and will not be added to the donation to Bridge to Turkiye.
