In Loving Memory of Kathy Roach

UPDATE:

Thank you all for the love and generosity you have shown to our family over the last 8 months. It was a long a challenging road, and your prayers and support helped Kathy and the whole family SO very much. Donations will be used for memorial costs and remaining medical costs and equipment costs from the last 8 months.

Kathy Sue Roach, 66, Waukesha, WI, daughter of Jack and Dorothy Willis was born March 26th, 1955 in Wichita Kansas and departed this life to be with her Savior on April 30, 2021 surrounded by family at her home in Waukesha.

Kathy was preceded in death by both her Mother and Father.

She is survived by her loving husband Ray; two sons: Jack Roach and wife Jenny of Springfield MO, Justin Roach and wife Jennifer of Waukesha; grandchildren: Elisabeth and Hannah of Springfield, Jack, Colton, and Ava of Waukesha; brothers: Stephen Willis and wife Bonnie of Eugene OR, Mark Willis and wife Reyna of Springfield MO, and a host of family and friends.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She met the love of her life at church on Mother’s day in 1972. A few months later, on the 23rd of December, Ray and Kathy were married. Kathy served hand in hand as Ray ministered at churches across the United States. As a Pastor’s wife, she was influential in many lives. Ever the hostess and friend, she poured her life into others, bringing joy and happiness to those around her.  Quick to make friends, and never meeting a stranger, she used her natural grace to point others to Christ. She spent 48 wonderful years walking beside her husband shining the light of the Gospel of Jesus everywhere she went.

Whether called Grandma, Gram, or Maw-Maw, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.  Often remarking that she loved being a Mother, but adored being a Grandma. Kathy cherished every moment spent with each of her five grandchildren. Always there for birthdays, concerts, plays and events, she made a conscientious effort to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives. Her godly example will continue to influence her children and grandchildren for decades to come.

Kathy was never known to let the grass grow under her feet. She loved working in floral shops, in the law firm and giving amazing customer service. She always viewed every interaction with others as service to her Lord and Savior, Jesus. In every area of her life Kathy lived what she believed, and she believed with all her heart that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; and no one can come to the Father but through Him. In life she showed others His love; in death she has gone home to be with her Savior and friend.

Original Post:

On August 16th, Kathy Roach was taken via ambulance to the hospital experiencing severe pain and sudden paralysis. Kathy had a large blood clot on her spine that caused damage to her spine and caused her paralysis. Kathy was also later diagnosed with Leukemia. Kathy spent one month in the ICU, another month and a half in a regular hospital room, and has now been at a rehab hospital for the last 2 weeks working hard to learn how to live life in a completely new way.  It has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs and Kathy has fought hard the last 3 months. God has been good and provided many miracles. Bottom line, according to the doctors, it is truly a miracle that Kathy is with us today.

We (Justin and Jennifer Roach - Kathy's son and daughter-in-love) humbly ask for your help. Would you say a prayer for Kathy as she learns to live with new challenges and is still fighting Leukemia and gearing up to have her third round of Chemo? If you are so blessed and able, would you consider donating financially to help meet Kathy's needs? Every dollar truly is a blessing and is truly appreciated more than words can say.

We have made many renovations to our home to accommodate Kathy's new needs, but there are still many things that would be a huge blessing to make Kathy's new challenges easier to manage as she comes home in the next couple weeks: an electric wheelchair, a lift, a reliable wheelchair accessible van to get her to and from cancer treatments and doctors appointments, ramps, a medical bed, and various other pieces of equipment to help her obtain independence in everyday living. Though insurance will help a bit with some of these items, there is still a heavy financial burden left upon the family, so we are humbly asking for help. We truly cannot say thank you enough for the outpouring of love, texts, calls, cards, and prayers the last 3 months for Kathy!

Kathy and her husband, Ray, have faithfully and selflessly given so much of themselves to serve others. Ray has served as a Pastor for 40+ years and Kathy has been by his side leading various ministries, and joyfully stepping in to help wherever help is needed in the church. They have given their hearts, their time, their talents, and their money to serve God and others.

Though we continue to pray for a miracle of healing for Kathy's paralysis and her battle with cancer, Kathy has made it clear that she will continue to serve and love others and serve God whether she is in a wheelchair or walking.
