In Memory of Steve Scherer

As many of you know, Steve was in a severe motorcycle accident on the night of March 8th. He sustained a serious head injury, two partially collapsed lungs, and a broken clavicle. Unfortunately, when EMS initially responded to the scene of the accident, Steve lost his pulse and CPR was initiated. He was taken by ambulance to Thompson Health in Canadaugiua where they were able to get pulses back. He was then stabilized and Mercy flighted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. At this point, his doctors have informed us that his injuries below the neck are relatively minor, however, they are concerned about his brain. He sustained a head injury and the doctors are concerned about the amount of time he went without getting oxygen to his brain during CPR. Currently, he is intubated and on a ventilator as he needs help breathing and he is unresponsive to voice and touch. At this point, we are waiting for some of the swelling to go down in his brain so that the doctors can assess what his current brain function is. Steve is the father of two adult children, a small business owner and a dedicated friend. We are hoping to raise funds for his impeding medical bills, business and personal expenses, and care for his home and dog, Diesel. Truly anything helps and any support you are able to send to Steve and his family means the world to him.
