Today is the 14th of April, my mother's birthday. A week ago on the 7th, she passed away suddenly due to complications with asthma. She would have been 69 years old today. This was a devastating shock to me and my family. Compounding things is that COVID-19 is raging across the world, making an already difficult task an almost insurmountable one. It was hard to find a funeral parlor in New York City that was not full because of the sheer amount of deaths from this horrible virus. It wasn’t easy traveling to New York City from Pennsylvania via train to take care of her affairs during a nationwide quarantine. Doing this put me and my girlfriend in danger. What hurts most is being robbed of the ability to be with loved ones during this difficult time to grieve with them.
At this time I can perform only one of her wishes, which was to be cremated. I’ll have a funeral service for her on a future date when it is ok for people to have social gatherings. Paying for her cremation and other expenses has to come out of my pocket until I can return to NYC to address her life insurance situation. I don't ask for much in life. If I can work and do it all on my own I would. I wouldn't ask if it wasn't needed.

She survived an accident on a train, bankruptcy due to health issues, high blood pressure, diabetes, an accident with a taxi, and cancer twice.
