In Memory of Tom Petley
Thursday 21st April 2022 started off as just another day, little did Tom's family and friends know that it would end in such a devastating way. On returning home from work, Tom's Mum found her beautiful 20-year-old son had passed away some time earlier in his sleep. Nothing can ever prepare you for losing a child. Tom was a very loving, caring, funny, hardworking young man. He had just started to live his life after coming out of lockdown. There were no warning signs, he had no prior health issues. We never got to say goodbye, or tell him how much he was loved. His death has left a huge hole in our lives that can never be filled.
Tom's family were hugely supported by Cardiac Risk in the Young and his immediate relatives have all been provided with free Heart Screening. Tom's family and friends are now wanting to put on free Heart Screening in the North Essex area. Each screening day will by provided by CRY however these need funding. We currently have 2 days booked and would like to book a third. This allowed us to scan 14-35 years olds for absolutely free so you hopefully wont have to go through what Tom's family and friends have been.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Cardiac Risk in the Young: Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) was established in 1995 to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths (YSCD, SADS) through awareness, screening and research; and to support affected families. CRY funds fast-track services at the CRY Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions and Sports Cardiology and the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pathology.
