The Indian hospitality industry has been severely impacted by Covid19 and the lockdowns. Some parts of India are already seeing a wave 2 of Covid19.
Potentially 38 Million people could lose their jobs in hospitality and tourism and many millions have already done so. Many of the non management Indian employees have been let go by their employers and unlike countries in Europe and other parts of the world, India does not have a welfare support system. From my conversations with many ex hospitality employees it is wide spread that many hospitality workers and families are already in hardship and running out of money fast.
The money raised will be used to ensure food and clean water is sent to hospitality workers and their families in the villages. In the good times many people benefitted from Indian hospitality, and out bound middle class Indian tourism helped many markets in the pre covid19 times. . There are many millions of poor and below the poverty line hospitality..
Hotel owners and Hotel General Managers have had no choice to let people go as the hotel industry has been decimated. In addition as you will see in the Video the state governments appear paralysed with making decisions and as always it is the poorer people and lower paid jobs that get impacted first and the most. Please donate what you can to help. I will share stories and be 100% transparent where and how the donations are spent helping hospitality workers.
