Supporting Indy C Fight Aggressive Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to support our dear friend Indy C, a beloved stand-up comedian, business development manager, talented photographer, artist, Mum, daughter, sister and loyal friend. Indy has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive metastatic breast cancer, with two invasive carcinomas in her right breast that have spread to her lymph nodes. While we await the full body scan results to accurately stage the cancer, the aggressive nature of her condition necessitates immediate chemotherapy.
Indy's cancer is HER2 positive, meaning her best chance of beating this disease lies in a high-cost drug called Pertuzumab. Unfortunately, this drug is not covered under the PBS and costs thousands of dollars, with no available rebates in either the private or public healthcare systems. Many women go without this crucial treatment due to its prohibitive cost. Indy does not want to just go without, she wants to give life her best shot. She needs financial help to do this.
Indy is known for her hard work and dedication, both in her professional life and on stage. She has also been a tireless volunteer, supporting Operation PTSD Support, Partner Retreats for carers of incapacitated veterans since 2014, providing glamor photo shoots to boost carers self esteem, art lessons, comedy relief and more. She has spent over 100 hours painting a mural for the kids' room at the Townsville city police precinct. Indy has also generously donated her time and money to various charity comedy shows, supporting causes such as men's mental health and breast cancer awareness.
Despite having private health insurance and incapacity payment coverage, Indy faces significant financial challenges. Her insurance offers only a minimal contribution towards the cost of Pertuzumab, ( other insurers cover the whole cost as she expected one of the largest health funds to do) and her incapacity coverage requires a 60-day waiting period and cessation of work, which she can't do as she will need her job when she gets through this. With the extensive treatment plan ahead, including 20 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, and time off work, Indy needs our help.
To date, Indy has incurred over $10,000 in medical expenses, and the public health system cannot provide the timely treatment she urgently needs. We are asking for your support to help Indy access the best possible care. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in her fight against this aggressive cancer.
We have set up a GoFundMe page to collect donations for Indy. Please consider making a donation to support Indy in her battle against breast cancer. Together, we can give her the best chance to fight this disease with the best available options.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
