Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Initiative
You can help prevent this crime. Statistics show that for every ONE adult trained in prevention, TEN CHILDREN are better protected from abuse. That's a HUGE impact ONE person can make! Join the team of "Stewards of Children" to help change the statistics of 1 in 10 children reported as being victims of sexual abuse.
Get involved to help reach the initiative goal to train 1500 adults annually in CSA (Child Sexual Abuse) prevention in Alamance County alone. This is a number at which cultural change can be accomplished long-term. 90 people have been trained just this month! (Nov.)
Help children. Help community. Protecting children from sexual abuse helps prevent many issues that are often rooted in the long-term and immediate trauma of abuse, including suicide, domestic minor sex trafficking, substance abuse, teen homelessness, behavior and social issues, low academic achievement, teen pregnancy, loss of income, and more. The crime of sexual abuse is believed to be the number ONE cause of health problems in children, often with lifelong consequences. Child sexual abuse affects everyone, causing economic and societal burdens in all communities.
Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention training is the core training utilized in this CSA Prevention Initiative. This is an evidence-based curriculum used nationwide and around the world. Materials alone cost $10 per participant. We need funds to provide for material and administration expenses to run this collaborative community initiative.
Please help us make a positive difference in the lives of children and in our community. Personally participate in training and help others receive it as well. Prevention is so much better than the alternative.
We are asking you to give a special or recurring gift to help sustain the initiative. Could you give $10 once? How about monthly? That small amount can help protect TEN children through adult education. Money should never get in the way of protecting our children.
