"Inspire Sussex" and "Wheels for All" are Teaming Up for a Fantastic Fundraising Adventure!

About Us:

Inspire Sussex are all about human shaped care - making a difference to the lives of those with a learning disability for over 70 years.

Formally Eastbourne & District Mencap, their mission is to protect and promote individuals' rights to live safe, quality-filled lives.

The Inspire Sussex team listen to what people tell them about their lives. Listening not only to the words spoken but also to various other communication methods, which enables them to achieve a more precise understanding and enhances their residents' abilities to take control of their lives. They believe every person is unique, and they celebrate that uniqueness.

Wheels for All –

Wheels for all embraces people with disabilities, differing needs and those that would otherwise not be able to cycle by providing a fun and friendly activity.

Eastbourne Wheels for all, based at the Eastbourne Cycling Centre, provides a range of specially adapted cycles, which means that anyone can experience the feeling of freedom, the breeze on their face, and the sense of achievement that comes with inclusive cycling.

We have a fantastic facility incorporating the athletics track and a trackside clubroom offering refreshments and dry area throughout the year. All Wheels for all activity is delivered and developed by the East Sussex Bikeability team supported by trusted volunteers.

Our shared fundraising goal is to create an inclusive event for individuals of all abilities, called “Inspire 4 All 500 Mile Challenge”.

It's a special chance for everyone to come together and ride laps around the Eastbourne East Sussex College track, aiming to complete a 500-mile journey. This cycling event will take place on Saturday, July 27th, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Participants will pedal as many laps as they can to reach the 500-mile goal. It's not just about cycling; it's also a fundraiser and a fun-filled family and community festival. Everyone in Eastbourne is invited to join in the festivities, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere for all.

The funds raised during this event will be dedicated to a primary two objectives:

1)Enhancing Opportunities at the INSPIRE Sussex Social Hub:

The funds raised will greatly improve the INSPIRE Sussex Social Hub, ensuring it becomes a vibrant and inclusive space for individuals with learning disabilities in Eastbourne. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for attendees by providing essential amenities such as dining chairs, gardening and craft equipment, cooking and baking supplies, furniture, computers, and a large TV screen. We're developing a Social Hub for the community to engage in activities, make friends, and become active members of the local area.

2)Eastbourne Wheels for All will use any funds raised towards purchasing new specially adapted cycles to enable us to offer more people the opportunity to use and enjoy our facilities. Some of these bikes will be being used and on display during the event day.
