Let’s Poll Corbyn’s Constituency (Islington North)

The 2024 general election is here, and Jeremy Corbyn is running to be the independent MP for Islington North.

But because it is a highly local contest, we have no idea how the voters there currently intend to vote.

That’s where you come in. It’s time to do some polling!

I'm aiming to raise £6,500 by 17th June so I can commission a voting intention poll of Islington North from Survation.

I want to get this polling done as soon as possible, so I'm aiming to raise £6,500 by the 17th of June. If you can give even a few pounds, that will make a huge difference.

The polling is being commissioned by Ell Folan of Stats for Lefties (who is overseeing the logistics and crowdfunding) and Novara Media (who are providing some of the funding). Polling will be conducted by Survation in accordance with British Polling Council rules.

Q. What will this money be used for?

A. Every penny will go towards funding a poll of the Islington North parliamentary constituency, conducted by Survation .

Q. Who are you?

This crowdfunder is being co-ordinated by independent freelance journalist Ell Folan, the person behind Stats for Lefties and a contributor to Novara Media. You can find them at @EllStats on Twitter/X.

Q. Why are you doing this?

Jeremy Corbyn is a major figure on the left in Britain, but weeks into a general election campaign we still do not have any polling on how his constituency will vote. In short - we would like to know the answer to that question.

Q. Why are you crowdfunding this money?

Conducting a poll is expensive. Stats for Lefties is a part-time project by a single person, so I need your help. Every penny is appreciated greatly and will help bring an interesting piece of data to the attention of the British public.

Q. What happens if you fall short of the target?

If we fall short of the fundraising target, I will first ask my funding partners if they can provide a little more money to ensure that the poll is fully funded. For example, some of the funding for this poll is already being provided by Novara Media, while other funding is being provided by We Deserve Better.

If I ultimately cannot find enough funding for the poll and I have to cancel the project, then I will ask GoFundMe to refund every donation (that is a service that they provide).
