Prevent eviction for mom and 4 kids

My special needs class student, J___, and his mom and 3 younger siblings are facing eviction next week. They've had a rough winter during which J___ was in UNC Hospital for 2 weeks for an emergency surgery. The doctors would not clear him to come back to school until he had recovered another month at home. His mom stayed at the hospital and then home with him for that entire time. She has been behind on bills and struggling since then. She now works full-time in a breakfast diner (for $2.80/hr plus tips). She called me in tears yesterday and told me what was happening--including the fact that her landlord had taken her to court. The court gave her until May 11th to come up with the two months rent she owes ($1800). She has only been able to save $300 toward this out of her tips. I would ask anyone who can to considering helping this mom get back on her feet and keep her children from becoming homeless. I have witnessed her parenting over this past school year, including those nights in the hospital, and she is a wonderful and loving mom. She is absolutely doing the best she can given the combination of the setbacks and her very low wages.
