Jumpstart for a Day (JFAD)
Studies show that children from low-income communities are at a significantly higher risk of school failure. By age three, a child from an economically disadvantaged family would have heard 30 million fewer words in their home environment than a child from a wealthier family. Your generous donation could help our children see that they too can have the world at their fingertips with the indispensable power of knowledge and skills.
Jumpstart DC-Howard University is hosting its annual Jumpstart For A Day (JFAD) event Friday, April 22nd, 2016 from 9:30 a.m-12 p.m. This one-day educational fair promotes school readiness in pre-school and kindergarten children by facilitating learning stations that foster language, literacy, and social skill development. At this year’s JFAD event, we anticipate over 400 attendees and therefore need your help and support. Coordinated by Capstone Communications, the John H. Johnson School of Communications' student-run advertising and public relations agency, this year's JFAD will be one of the most engaging and authentic learning experiences to date.
