FIGHT WITH JULIE'S WARRIORS

A Difficult Journey, and a Dazzling Smile

Julie could be anyone’s daughter, sister, co-worker, neighbor or friend. You may have seen her at the mall, where she works selling jewelry. You could have seen her at your child’s school, where she works helping children with special needs. You may have seen her tending to her lovely back yard garden, which has been certified as a National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat and a Monarch Watch Waystation.  You may have seen Julie, but you would never guess the very real struggles she endures every single day.

Unbeknownst to the many people drawn to her bright smile and gorgeous red hair, Julie has spent her entire life quietly carrying some very heavy burdens. In spite of this, she always does the right thing. Following all the rules, Julie lives her life with the humility and strength of someone who has known too much pain and disappointment, but has never lost her “joie de vivre”, and her love of the simple things in life.

Julie is a single mom (not by choice) who works up to 65 hours a week at two low-paying jobs. She struggles to keep a modest home, and to support her son in college. Julie lives her life frugally, taking joy in her gardens and simple pleasures.

A few years ago, her heart had finally healed from a devastating divorce that left her struggling to support her young child with few marketable skills. She survived that trial, and allowed herself to fall in love again. In Ray, she had found a truly wonderful man. Julie had dared to dream she could be happy, loved and secure, as she planned for her future. But her heart was shattered one evening, when her beloved Ray was suddenly killed in a motor vehicle accident and taken from her forever. She has struggled to understand, and to merely survive this cruel turn of events, while continuing to keep her household afloat.

A Devastating Diagnosis

Julie lives each day hoping for a better tomorrow, but she still has much to overcome.  Earlier this month, Julie was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and the prognosis is not good.

The last three weeks have forced her to endure a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments, second opinions, insurance issues and painful tests while keeping up her busy work schedule.  Julie is sorting out how she will handle this latest, and most difficult challenge. She also worries about how it will affect her son Michael,  the light of her life and her reason for living.

Why Julie Needs Your Help

Julie will have to take a leave of absence or go on disability from one or both of her jobs during treatment and the long road to recovery. She will not have the financial means to cover her meager living expenses. In addition, her treatment is expected to be painful, intensive, and prolonged, resulting in mounting medical costs.

Julie is stoic and truly the last person to ask for help from friends and strangers. That is why we, her friends, and the people who love her, are petitioning on her behalf.

Enter Julie's Warriors
