Good morning Grace supporters,
I wanted to share a article released yesterday by ProPublica, IL  about Grace and her journey since she was released by
emergency Court of Appeals order on Friday, July 31, 2020.  Please take a moment to read Grace's words as she creates her own narrative.

Many of you have asked how I am doing and I thank you for asking. I am doing the best I can to bring some semblance of
normalcy to our lives during these awful times. I want to  insure that my child heals from the trauma of this experience and
at the same time we can resume the pathway to progress we were on just prior to her detention.
Gratefully,
Charisse

Original Story About Grace

"SHE DOES NOT DESERVE THIS"

This is the cry of Grace's mother as she counts the days, weeks and now months her daughter has been detained at Children's Village, Oakland County MI.

Grace 15, previously in the 10th grade at Groves High School  has been detained since May 14, 2020  for a probation violation:
"NOT COMPLETING SCHOOLWORK AND WAKING UP ON TIME"
Grace has chronic ADHD, a learning disability and mood disorders.

When Grace's school re-opened online during COVID-19, her special education supports required by law essentially disappeared. That did not matter to the judicial system and within two weeks, she was ordered to court and taken into custody for the probation violation.

Grace's family and village are grateful for the outpouring of support and media coverage from across the country. This GoFundMe page is sanctioned by her family and at this time funds raised will go towards legal costs, future healthcare and education supports.
