Jamie Ertle 's Cancer Fight
My 34 year-old sister-in-law, Jamie (Arp) Ertle, has been one of the most positive and giving individuals I’ve known. We are all devastated to learn that she was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer .
After feeling some discomfort in weeks prior, Jamie set-up an appointment for a colonoscopy on October 7, 2017. The findings that morning indicated a mass in the recto sigmoid suspicious for cancer. Due to the severity, she was transferred to the ER for expedited work. Further testing revealed the mass was in fact cancer and had spread to her liver and lungs. Jamie’s treatment has already begun and will be managed out of Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Jamie has lived her life brightening the day of everyone in her path and serving others through her career. Jamie is an Air Force veteran, who served 6 years active duty, including tours in Iraq and Korea. She was also stationed at Mt. Home and Lajes Air Force bases. After her service in the military, Jamie continued to serve her country as a civilian air traffic controller in Afghanistan. In 2012 upon returning home from Afghanistan, Jamie gained employment with the FAA at Southern California TRACON (SCT) in San Diego, California. She’s also been a NATCA member since her first day on the job. Although Jamie is from the Midwest, she settled into Southern California with ease and later met the love of her life, her wife Andrée. Just over 9 months ago, Jamie and Andrée were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Brièle.
Being the single income for their household, Jamie will be unable to work for several months to come, and the financial road ahead is uncertain. We are humbly asking for donations to help cover the rapidly growing medical and daily living expenses, and hopefully give Jamie comfort that she's not in this alone. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
