Jamie's Journey with Clival chordoma
Donation protected
Feb 2025 Update. Jamie had his Make-a-Wish granted. He changed his wish to meeting the YouTubers The Boys. What an awesome group of young men they turned out to be, a fantastic day to be had by all. ,
Edit.. we have increased the target amount when it was suggested we would need to take into account paying of bills while gone so we have a home to return to, and he has food to eat, as I have been unable to work since diagnosis in August, and I am unable to work while we are gone (and I just finished a law degree so I do want to work)
Hi, my name is Jodi, I am Jamies mother and I have now taken over the page. Tash did an amazing job for us but she has other things she now needs to focus on.
Jamie had 12 hour brain surgery in October at Charlie Gardiner hospital, with the result being that the required follow up treatment he requires isnt available in Australia. We are to be sent to Germany for Proton Beam therapy for approximately 12 weeks.
This is such a stressful and scary time for my son, and I am fundraising so as to make his trip abroad as stress free as possible. This is potentially life saving treatment
Jamie was diagnosed in September with a Clival chordoma, a very rare and aggressive and mailgnant tumour. It was roughly 5 x 4 cm and pushing so strongly on his brainstem that his brainstem started resembling a question mark. Clival chordomas only affect 1 in a million people globally, with only 5% of these cases being in children, making Jamie approximately 1 in 400 children globally with this condition.
Reaching out to the public for help is difficult for me, its not something I have ever had to do before, but this is about saving my sons life and as such I am leaving my pride as a parent at the door and asking for help. Once we get there we will have no more fundraising opportunities, and I will be unable to work, just as I am unable now, so I am trying to do all I can for him before we go.
The money raised is to cover
- Living expenses abroad for 12 weeks for he and I
- Rent at home as I won't be working or receiving any form of benefits.
- Money to assist upon return while I return to work or find an income.
I am trying to be as honest and transparent and real as possible.
Thankyou, Jo Paterson
Hi, my name is Tash, and I'm fundraising for 16-year-old Jamie, recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Only two weeks ago, a large, aggressive tumor was found, and the family is facing emergency surgery for Jamie. Life has been turned upside down for Jamie and his family. Jamie's mum, Jodi, is a single mum with little support finances are also strained as she can't earn right now. Due to the circumstances, urgent funding is needed to make their home safe. Jodi is very distressed and fearful in this situation; we seek to relieve some of her distress.
All love and support for Jodi and Jamie is greatly appreciated at this time
