Jamie's Hurricane Recovery Fund

Jamie is part of the Nautilus family, teaching in both the Spanish Virgin Islands and the Grenadines. She is an amazing instructor, and many of you have had the privilege of learning to sail with her.
For the last 14 years, Jamie has lived on the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. She made her beautiful 32 foot Westsail sailboat her home, only moving into a nearby apartment last year.
Last week, hurricane Irma tore through the Caribbean with deadly force, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. The US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, St. Martin and Barbuda were hit the hardest. Winds over 185mph were clocked on St. John!
Many of you have asked how Jamie is, and the good news is that she is safe. Jamie was off the island when the hurricane ripped through. Sadly though, the damage has been atrocious. Jamie's sailboat, "Happy Times", was anchored with 50 other sailboats in St. John's hurricane hole. All 50 vessels sank. Jamie's boat is still underwater, with two others piled on top of it. Her apartment has been destroyed, along with her personal belongings. The last she heard, her car had been buried under rubble.
Jamie has not yet been able to return to St. John due to the lack of inter-island transportation and the dangerous social unrest. It looks like she will finally make it home on a sailboat heading there from Fajardo, Puerto Rico this Friday, and will see what remains of her life in St. John.
We have received so many emails from you, our Nautilus Alumni, asking how you can help. What an amazing Nautilus community we have! Can we raise some funds to help get Jamie get back on her feet? She will have numerous expenses associated with trying to salvage her boat, replacing all her personal belongings, & attempting to recover her car. No gift would be too small as every little bit counts.
Jamie has asked us to pass on her gratitude to all of you who have contacted her to make sure she is okay! The process of getting a life back together, amidst chaos, is not easy on the heart. She has been overwhelmed by your kindness, support and love...
Thanks so much,
The Nautilus Family
