Help Janae Attend Pepperdine

If you know Janae Monroe then you know a thing or two about determination. Some of the things I've seen her face, overcome, and push through, are things that, for me, and probably most of those that know her, would have shaken our faith. But it hasn't done that to her. Nothing has ever been handed to her and that is especially true when it comes to her education. The financial aspect of furthering her education, however, has not been the only thing standing in her way. Janae somehow managed to receive her bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University, despite a series of life circumstances and health problems that even delayed her entrance into the university. Instead of taking that as a reason to give up, she pushed through, eventually earning her degree. The next goal she set for herself was to further her education in the legal field. However, yet again, health problems put her plans on hold. It is now 5 years after graduation and despite delays in her plan Janae is still determined to further her legal education, and this month received the news that she was accepted into Pepperdine University School of Law.

Even though I've known Janae for almost 10 years, I never realized how serious Janae's health problems were until I began working for her this year. Janae is a very private person and despite telling me she was sick, she never elaborated and always put on a brave face and a smile. When I started seeing her every day, was when it started to sink in to me how severe her health issues really were. I saw the exhaustion on her face day in and day out, but she still never complained, or said this was going to keep her from furthering her education. The work ethic that she brings to the table at our office is the same work ethic that I know she will bring to Pepperdine's School of Law and it frustrates me that a lack of money for school is standing in the way of that.

For those of you that do not know, Janae is currently the Vice President and Dispute Resolution Associate of Peace Talks Mediation Services. Although she is fortunate enough to be able to keep her job while in school, she has to go less than part time so loans and scholarships that traditional students are guaranteed are not an option for her. She has done and will continue to do everything she can possibly do to ensure her education is furthered, and now it's time for others to help her reach her goal.

If you are a friend, family member, coworker or just reading this page, please consider donating to Janae's education fund. I truly believe that she is going to do great things with her education, ESPECIALLY since she will be attending a top ranked law school, and will be in the #1 Dispute Resolution program in the nation and ultimately wants to become a JUDGE. Because of these amazing goals she has set for herself, as her friend and coworker, I want to be sure I've done everything in my power to help her reach them.
