Support The Black's through Brendan's Brain Surgery Journey

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

We’re reaching out to let you know about Brendan and Jenna’s current situation and to ask for your support.

On January 1st, doctors found a 6-7 cm mass on Brendan’s brain. On Tuesday morning, Brendan underwent surgery at the Royal Brisbane Hospital to remove the tumour. The surgeons were able to remove approximately 90-95% of it, and he had an MRI yesterday to determine how much remains.

As for the tumour itself, the type and specific details won’t be known until mid next week, after the pathology results are returned. Following those results, a treatment plan will be put together to address the remaining tumour and ensure Brendan gets the care he needs moving forward.

Brendan is staying positive and strong through it all, however, this means he won’t be able to drive heavy machinery or return to his regular job for at least the next 12 months.

In addition, he won’t be able to drive a car for the first six months following surgery. Jenna, as Brendan’s primary carer, will only be able to work limited hours during this time, adding further strain to the family’s financial situation. While they’re hopeful for a smooth recovery, it’s going to be a period of adjustment for the family.

Jenna and Brendan have three kids at home, and with Brendan unable to work, we’ve set up this GoFundMe to help cover their living expenses during this time. This will give them peace of mind and allow Brendan to focus on his recovery without the added financial stress.
